Dancing with the Stars

Alex's school had a fundraising dance last Friday evening for the school counselor's son who was in a horrible mountain biking accident. It was a really fun family night out! Hunter busted quite a few moves (he loves a good beat) and Alex had fun running at top speed through the crowd with his friends. I'm surprised he didn't hurt himself or someone else (although he did end up flying into the wall and ripping down some of the decorations! Oops!). Both boys loved the party snacks...Alex had his all time favorite Doritos and orange soda (followed later by a Coke - thanks Daddy! He really needed the caffeine at 7pm) as well as a cupcake and doughnut, and Hunter had Goldfish and Sprite. After all that junk they were definitely wound up. Hunter crashed

soon after that and could barely make it until 8:30, wanting to be held by Mommy most of the time. We left by about 8:30, and Alex couldn't stop talking about the next time

there is an event like this.

First Bike Race of 2010

Frank had the first race of his 2010 season yesterday. It was held at Richmond International Raceway (where many NASCAR races are held). It was such a neat venue! Alex thought it was really cool to be down at the track and on pit row.

There was a really large field of racers, and Frank did a great job (he finished in the top third).

He felt good afterwards and is looking forward to many more races this year!

My little guy got a haircut...it's so much shorter than it's ever been. It took me a little while to get used to it, but I think he looks adorable (I'm not biased or anything!!).

Super Bowl Sunday

Enjoying the game together, with "Tipsy" (the Tootsie-Roll pillow he won from Chuck E Cheese...he saved his tickets for more than 2 YEARS to get enough tickets - 2000!!! He loves that thing!)

He's of the belief that Super Bowl Sunday means junk-food. Obviously, we let him believe this!

(Actually, he does enjoy a Snickers ONCE in a while, but not this day - not to mention that I think Alex would have had a fit if Frank really did take a bite of his precious candy bar!!!)

"The Hill"

There is a decent-sized hill a few miles from our house that is dubbed by people around here as "The Hill". We have a fairly good hill at our house, but it goes straight into the road, so it isn't necessarily the safest place to sled (especially if I'm not out to watch Alex). "The Hill" is flat for a long time at the bottom so you can go pretty far. We had a blast there! We don't own a sled, so we brought the lid of a storage tub. That worked ok, but was definitely a bumpy ride! It sure is a workout though, especially for me since Hunter can't make it up the hill on his own, which means I get the honor of carryinghim up (and remember, I don't own snow boots so climbing up a hill made out of basically ice in sneakers is already incredibly difficult without the added weight and general wet-noodleness of Hunter). We went twice this past snow-storm and we are psyched to go again NEXT year (Do you hear that, Snow? We aren't interested in any more of you THIS year!)

Alex's 1st Sleepover

Alex had his first sleep-over on Friday night. Luckily it was a boy from our neighborhood, Evan, and he could just walk here from up the street since we were in the midst of yet another snow storm. The boys had a fantastic time! They played Wii, football, lots of games, anything physical like chasing Hunter and wrestling, they ate s'mores and they got to stay up late watching a movie (they went to sleep at 10:30 -- they must have been exhausted because we didn't hear a peep out of them until 8am). In the morning they played some more Wii, got to eat french toast, and had lots of laughs until Evan had to leave at about 11am.
Alex had so much fun! He wished Evan could spend 2 nights here!

Snow (Again???)

ANOTHER snow storm in Virginia this weekend...close to 15 inches! The boys are, of course, thrilled! Next year mommy is going to wisen up and buy snow gear. Not having boots or snowpants is not fun and only adds to the ridiculous amount of time it takes to get ready to go outside. Plus, we NEED some sleds...luckily we have awesome neighbors that share with us, but it would be so much better if we had our own! The boys love the snow and we love to watch them having so much fun - because thankfully it doesn't happen often!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for no more snow this winter -- my boys may love it but it is definitely NOT my favorite!

We decided to try sledding in the street this time - it is a much longer run (although not nearly as fast as our hill). Luckily not many people driving today!

I found Hunter like this other night, sound asleep. I don't think I'd be able to sleep very well if half of my body was just dangling off the bed!

Here comes the bus!!!

Well, I didn't get any awesome shots of Hunter getting on/off the bus, but these are a couple of what I did capture. I must say that he LOVES the bus! Every day he is thrilled to see it coming and practically runs down the driveway (which can be very dangerous - if you've been to our house you understand this!).
I hope he keeps his enthusiasm for as long as possible! He's such a sweetie!

Hunter's 1st Day of School!

Hunter started school today!!! His preschool is part of Henrico county's PEDD program (Preschool Education for the Developmentally Delayed). He was THRILLED to be going to BIG SCHOOL just like Alex. They don't attend the same schools, though. Alex's elementary school doesn't have a PEDD program, so Hunter gets to go to his very own school!! He will normally be riding the bus (pictures to come soon!) but today we brought him so we could see his class and he could get a glimpse at the bus before actually having to ride it. His teacher, Mrs. Erin, was absent today and there was a substitute, so Hunter will have his first normal day of bus riding and regular teacher starting tomorrow.

When asked what he was going to do at school today, his response was "Play games."
When I picked him up at noon, he sadly reported "I didn't play game all day" (sorry, rude awakening that school isn't all about games!) but he did say that they colored, danced, and "count snowmans". He met some new friends, had snack, and overall had a great first day!

I can't believe my baby is going to school (and soon riding the bus!).

He looks so sad because after hopping out of bed for his first day of school he was concerned that I wasn't going to get him dressed and he would have to wear his jammies to school!
