Camp Out!

Daddy took Alex camping at Pocahontas State Park for two nights. They stayed in a cabin, grilled out, ate s'mores, rode mountain bikes, and had lots of boy fun!

Go, Hunter, Go!!

Hunter is playing soccer this season!! He was so excited for his first game and he looked adorable in his soccer uniform. He was really into the 30 minute practice before the game started, and then disaster struck. All of the other kids were a bit faster than him and he really didn't get much ball-time. Which upset him. A lot. So he spent a lot of time in tears, wanting to leave. I made him stay and play, telling him that his team needed him. Luckily there was a snack at the end. That made everything better.

Little Feet Meet

Hunter's class went on a field trip in April to the Little Feet Meet, sponsored by the Special Olympics. It was a morning full of different sports, including hockey, soccer, t-ball, track, and bowling. What a fun event! Hunter had a great time trying out all of the sports (although he really seemed to love the hockey and bowling the most).
All of the kids got medals at the end and had a chance to stand on the podium. Of course the battery in my camera died, so I don't have pictures of that (boo!).

Return of the Cake

Aunt Emily and Little Miss Cakes came to visit us for a long weekend and to enjoy Easter and Hunter's birthday with us. We had a fantastic visit (as always)! We went to the park in the 90 degree weather (what?), played outside with bubbles, had an impromptu Easter egg hunt with the neighbors, ate doughnuts, played, got messy at mealtime (ok, so that was mostly Saeda), went out for pizza, played some more, and had a great 4 days spending quality time together. Saeda is the cutest little thing, and Aunt Emily is a blast (the boys had tons of fun "attacking", having helicopter rides, and being goofy - and Alex spent a lot of time reading with Aunt Emily too!). What a great time we all had! We'll be counting down the days until the next visit.
(P.S. - Holty's if you're reading this: We wouldn't mind if you lived closer (hint, hint!)

Strawberry Picking

I took Hunter strawberry picking for the first time yesterday. I can't say that he loved the experience. He didn't want to touch most of the berries, picking only a handful the whole time we were there, and he definitely didn't want to eat any of them ("Look....dirty!"). Mommy picked 5lbs. though, so we'll be having some yummy strawberry treats soon! Maybe he'll like that a little better!

Mother's Day

I spent this Mother's Day childless!! Frank kept the boys at home and I went to the gym ALONE, the botanical gardens ALONE, and a couple of stores ALONE!! What a great gift!! I never would have thought that since becoming a mom 6 1/2 years ago the greatest gift someone could give me would be time by MYSELF!!

Big Wheels

Hunter took his new Big Wheel out on the road for the first time today (it was a Christmas present from Grammy). He had a lot of fun even though he can't really reach the pedals that well. Mommy took him to the hill in from of our house and let him roll down real fast. That was a blast until he had a little "mishap", although it was nothing a few Mommy-kisses couldn't fix. He got right back on and rode a little more before we decided to put the bike away for the night. It was a great first time!

After he pedaled by himself for a few seconds he gave a victory "Yes! I did it!"

Somewhere over the rainbow....

After a short bout of rain, the sun came out yesterday and revealed the most AMAZING rainbow I have ever seen!! It was so bright and it was complete, not just part of it showing. There was even a double rainbow for a few minutes. I wanted to get some better shots of it over our house, but I couldn't get far enough away to get more of it in the shot. I was so glad to experience it though, and the boys thought it was pretty cool too!

Easter

The Easter Bunny brought Alex and Hunter lots of fun treats this year! There were eggs hidden all over the downstairs filled with candy, and each boy had to find his own basket (which was also filled with candy and other goodies). Later in the day we had a yummy Easter dinner.

Spring is in the air!

We went to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens last week with my good friend and her kids. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous! The kids had a blast as always. Everytime we go there I wonder why we don't go more often....it isn't that far away and it is always a good time!

Easter Egg Hunt

The MOMS Club that we belong to had an Easter Egg Hunt last week. Hunter LOVED finding the eggs filled with candy! Alex found his 10 eggs within seconds, Hunter took much longer but Alex was a big help to his little brother.

Spring Hat

Alex had to make a spring hat for the Spring Parade at school that celebrated the first day of Spring. He used a giant sun for the main focal point and then lots of spring-ish stickers. We think Alex's hat turned out awesome!

Of course, Hunter couldn't just sit around doing nothing while there were stickers out. He decided to decorate his pants, shirt and hands. He was VERY proud of himself!

Snowy Snow Day!!!

We had the first REAL snow in Virginia that I can remember. It was probably a good 10+ inches, so of course school was canceled. Alex couldn't wait to get outside and play. Hunter was also just as excited to go outside, but once out, decided it wasn't so great after all. He went down the neighbor's driveway once on the saucer and HATED it. After that, he just stood inside the garage and pouted. Alex had a great time though. Our yard quickly became the best sledding spot in the neighborhood. We probably had about 20 kids at one point. It was so fun! Alex played outside for almost 2 hours. He was nearly frozen when he came in, but it wasn't an hour later when he was asking to go out again. It was great to see him having such a blast!
