One of our favorite places to visit in Richmond is Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. It's always so beautiful and we always have a good time. They recently opened their butterfly exhibit. Hunter LOVED going around and finding the butterflies. We hoped that one would land on either him or Mommy, but no such luck. Maybe next time!

National Zoo
We took the boys to the National Zoo in Washington DC over Memorial Day weekend. The zoo was a mad-house -- so many people! It was a hot day but a lot of fun. The boys favorite part was riding the train. It was Hunter's first time and Alex had a blast telling Hunter what to expect. The zoo was a good time too, but a lot of the animals were sleeping because of the heat. We did get to see the pandas inside, an elephant, some little monkeys and a bunch of small animals (mostly rodent types). Alex said his favorite animals at the zoo were the naked mole rats and Hunter's favorite was the monkeys.

Rusted Root
Filthy 5k Mud Run
Frank raced in the first annual Dominion River Rock Filthy 5k Mud Run on Friday evening. It was a 5k course with a few obstacles (running in the river and across the suspension bridge) and ending with having to cross through a 10in. deep mud pit.
Frank placed 13th out of 650.
Awesome, but VERY messy!!!

Oh I wish I were.....

an Oscar Mayer Weiner....
We were going to the grocery store today and happened to come across the weinermobile. Hunter thought the giant Hot Dog was awesome, and he had fun adding all of the toppings to the giant sized dog. How fun!

Strawberry Picking
I took Hunter strawberry picking for the first time yesterday. I can't say that he loved the experience. He didn't want to touch most of the berries, picking only a handful the whole time we were there, and he definitely didn't want to eat any of them ("Look....dirty!"). Mommy picked 5lbs. though, so we'll be having some yummy strawberry treats soon! Maybe he'll like that a little better!

Mother's Day
I spent this Mother's Day childless!! Frank kept the boys at home and I went to the gym ALONE, the botanical gardens ALONE, and a couple of stores ALONE!! What a great gift!! I never would have thought that since becoming a mom 6 1/2 years ago the greatest gift someone could give me would be time by MYSELF!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Big Wheels
Hunter took his new Big Wheel out on the road for the first time today (it was a Christmas present from Grammy). He had a lot of fun even though he can't really reach the pedals that well. Mommy took him to the hill in from of our house and let him roll down real fast. That was a blast until he had a little "mishap", although it was nothing a few Mommy-kisses couldn't fix. He got right back on and rode a little more before we decided to put the bike away for the night. It was a great first time!
Somewhere over the rainbow....
After a short bout of rain, the sun came out yesterday and revealed the most AMAZING rainbow I have ever seen!! It was so bright and it was complete, not just part of it showing. There was even a double rainbow for a few minutes. I wanted to get some better shots of it over our house, but I couldn't get far enough away to get more of it in the shot. I was so glad to experience it though, and the boys thought it was pretty cool too!
